Overview

Our Grief and Recovery workshop addresses the profound impact of historical and intergenerational trauma. Led by certified CAC counselors, this workshop provides a compassionate and structured environment to support recovery and personal growth. We also offer personalized durations to fit the specific needs of your organization or community. For this workshop we have 2 Facilitators at all times. 

 

1-Day Session: Theoretical Aspects of Greif and Recovery

In the one-day session, participants will explore the theoretical aspects of grief and recovery, including:

  • Understanding the nature and stages of grief.

  • Recognizing the symptoms and impacts of historical and intergenerational trauma.

  • Learning about different models and theories of grief and recovery.

  • Identifying coping mechanisms and support systems.

 

5-Day Session: Comprehensive Approach to Healing

The five-day session offers a more comprehensive approach, integrating theory with practical exercises to foster deep emotional healing and resilience. This includes:

Day 1: Theoretical Foundations

  • In-depth explanations of grief and trauma theories.

  • Case studies and real-life examples to contextualize learning.

  • Group discussions to share experiences and insights.

Day 2: Healing circle and Cultural Practices

  • Introduction to healing circles as a traditional practice.

  • Participating in guided healing circles to promote emotional expression and support.

  • Incorporating cultural practices and teachings into the healing process.

Day 3: Practical Exercises and Techniques

  • Hands-on activities to develop coping skills and resilience.

  • Techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, and journaling.

  • Role-paying exercises to practice new coping strategies.

Day 4: Addressing Intergenerational Trauma

  • Understanding the impacts of intergenerational trauma on individuals and communities.

  • Exploring ways to break the cycle of trauma through healing and education.

  • Creating a personal action plan for ongoing recovery.

Day 5: Building a Supportive Community

  • Strategies for building and maintaining a supportive network.

  • Group activities to foster community and mutual support.

  • Reflection session to consolidate learning and plan the future.

Throughout both the one-day and five-day sessions, participants will benefit from an interactive and supportive environment that includes:

  • Group discussions and sharing circle to foster connection and mutual support.

  • One-on-one sessions with certified counsellors for personalized guidance.

  • Opportunities for participants to share their stories and experiences in a safe and respectful space/

 

Final Reflections and Moving Forward

The workshop concludes with a final reflection session where participants can:

  • Reflect on their journey and the knowledge gained.

  • Share their personal action plans for continued healing.

  • Participate in a closing ceremony to honor their progress and commitment to recovery.
